Pflugerville Welcomes Hawaiian Falls - $23.5 Million Water Park

Having lived in Pflugerville since 1995, I've seen a LOT of changes. When I moved here, the closest grocery store was about 10 minutes from my house. Now, there are 3 of them that are closer than that. The toll roads, SH-45 and TX-130, which opened in late 2006, opened up a world of new development, shopping, restaurants, and just general convenience.

Now, we'll have a large water park, Hawaiian Falls, which will be within walking/biking distance of my house on a 25-acre tract between 130 and Stone Hill Town Center.

The groundbreaking ceremony happened a few days ago, and the developers plan to be open by Memorial Day 2014. They anticipate that some 300,000 visitors will come from a 100-mile radius to visit the park, and that the economic impact will be around $700 million over the next 20 years.

Apparently, this is the first Hawaiian Falls to include an "adventure park" in addition to the water park, although I didn't find any specifics with regard to what that actually means. Season passes are already on sale for $69.99 for Pflugerville residents (regular price $99.99) here, and they include free admission to the other 5 Hawaiian Falls locations around the state:

They anticipate that this will create roughly 300 jobs, and I read that they will be open virtually year-round, which was interesting to hear.

Pflugerville announced plans for three new hotels which will be opening near the park as well (the first ones in this town).

I look forward to checking it out with my family in May/June 2014.  :)
