Trip to Round Rock Donuts! (Video Journal)

For weeks on our BlogTalkRadio show (http://blogtalkradio.com/jckc), we have been joking about the famed "Two Pound Donut" at Round Rock Donuts, which is located about 15 minutes from my house.

I have always enjoyed the donuts there, but until recently I had no idea that they produced such a gargantuan product.  It's apparently the equivalent of eating ONE DOZEN donuts at a sitting.

Mellanie Stewart is the supremely helpful lady in the video.  I managed to leave without getting the name of the other employee who appears here.  And yes, it is spelled correctly - she wrote it down for me.  :)

I would recommend checking out their donuts if you have a chance - they are located near downtown Round Rock, at 106 W. Liberty Street (indidentally, I am headed north on I-35 in the video during the driving scene):

dibs :)  Okay....190 calories for one....that's not too bad....if I ate 6 of those my 1500 calorie per day diet is good....so it's safe to assume...I can eat half that donut.

LOOOVEEE the price too. Thanks for the tour....I LOOOVVVEEE donuts :)

Jason:  From looking at that monster donut... I would have thought it would have been the equivalent to more than a dozen donuts.  I know... if I am really hungry... I could barge my way through a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts... as long as I had an nice bottomless glass of milk to go along with it.  I might explode... but I'd like to try.  I am guessing I might have to be wheeled out of there.

Perhaps I need to go into training... so tomorrow I guess I will just HAVE to stop at Krispy Kreme... and start training.  Thanks a Lot !  Troublemaker !

$5.50! You could feed a family of 4 with that thing.  Your local food bank should stock up.

Hi Jason... I wonder if Round Rock Donuts makes a 2 pounder as a king cake for Mardi Gras... it looks about the right size... all it would need is the icing and the baby inside of it!

I am a serious donut fan, but there is no way in the world I could make it through that 2 pounder by myself.  :)  But I guess I could share it with Karen Anne ....

Jason - This giant donut looks too tempting!! Yum!!  Can you FedEx one to the Twin Cities?!

Your next tasks is to figure out how many gallons of coffee would it take to wash down a 2 lb donut.

Jason,

You need to submit this to the Food Network and see if you could get them to go out and sample the donut.  Who knows maybe Bobby Flay would do a "throwdown" with them.

Nice job sir on the reporting.

Jason - And why is it that you didn't include a Google Map from my house to this wonderful, magical land?  Wow, two pounds of donut.  Let's just say I look a little Homer Simpson-esque right now.  I have to remember to put that on my list of things to do in life.  I agree with Steve though, I would have liked to have seen footage of you during and after woofing one of those down.  I bet the after shots would be of a very sluggish Jason who didn't want to move much.

OK, that's just one serious donut!

Great video documenting your trip to the donut shop.

By the way, you didn't signal your lane change when exiting I-35. I'm contacting your local authorities!!!

Dear Jason,

I had no idea they made a monster donut. I feel that RR Donuts are far superior to Krispy Creme or Dunkin. Save me a regular sized donut!

;)

I saw this place on Man Vs Food, glad that you did this report.

The question is how many police officers in the Austin area know where Rock Rock Donuts is located?

Answer, all of them.

Great video on the Round Rock donut shop. Wow you could buy ONE of those and consume your whole day's worth of calories in one sitting. I have never seen a single donut that large. Get production with the video Jason and nice to hear your voice and narration as well.

What a concept, you could have office meetings and people could cut a piece of the donut they feel is appropriate!

we have been joking about the famed "Two Pound Donut" at Round Rock Donuts

We used to have a restaurant, here in Orange County, that served a chocolate eclair roughly the size of a football.  :)

Good job partner! Now you've gone and doughnut :) Amazing job. So Round Rock Doughnuts is right there in Round Rock about halfway between Pflugerville and Cedar Park, all suburbs of Austin, Texas? I would think the Austin area would be a great place to live with a 2 pound doughnut right there in the vecinity!

Hey Jason, Is that a little bit of chocolate I see around your lips?  MMMMI love donuts!  I could eat that whole thing. If you want to ship one of those over here to Alabama my address is..... Great job with the video, I guess you will soon move from radio to TV!

Jason,

Great video.   Thanks for sharing the RR donuts experience with us via the video journal.   If I ate one of this donuts (2,400 calories per donut) for breakfast, I will probably feel the urge to go on a very long hike and I probably would not be hungry again till late in the day.

Hey man, I am so glad I use Twitter now! Thanks for the tewwt that led me to this post! Of course a 2LB donut is yet another reason I have to run and struggle against the rising poundage...
