Over the past year or so, I have been helping to start a new church in Georgetown, Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA). I am pleased to announce that we will be having our first Sunday morning service on September 6th (Labor Day weekend). Our first "official" service will be held on October 11th, 2009, so that is our grand opening, as it were.
Our group continues to grow steadily - we are currently averaging 52 people attending our weekly services over the past 12 weeks. This figure does include kids, so I think we might be closer to 35 adults (just guessing). We are a laid-back and friendly crowd, and we would love to have you join us sometime.
Our pastor Whit Anderson recently signed an agreement with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce to use their new building each Sunday morning. So, our new meeting place will be at:
100 Stadium Dr
Georgetown, TX 78626
We will be meeting on Sunday mornings at 10am - child care will be provided up to age five for now.
This location is just north of the intersection of Williams Drive and Austin Avenue, at the corner of Stadium and Austin. The building is pretty hard to miss, since it says "GEORGETOWN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE" in huge painted letters on the side.
There should be ample parking for our needs, since the recreation center across the street is closed on Sundays. Visitors are welcome to use that parking lot if needed.
You can check out our brand-new Facebook page here: http://budurl.com/hwjj - why not become a "fan", too?

Jason,
Helping in building a new church too? Heavens, where do you find the time.
I suspect there is a great amount of energy, life, hope and prayers that are involved in starting something new. Nothing short of some great bonding going on for everyone.
Nice!
Enjoy!
Using AR to get the word out about your new congregation is a great approach. Good luck with this work.
Jason - This is so awesome participating in the community like this. I also have the same question Sheila has in where do you find the time ? Rock on !
Congratulations on the church growth and success. Glad to hear it =)
Congratulations! I imagine that would take a whole lot of time and dedication. How do you find the time? Great job!
Jason, congratulations on a great achievement for your community. I know the old saying, "when you want something done ask the busiest person you know, they know how to do it", certainly applies to you. Blessings be to your Church and all its members.
Congrats on this step forward with your work towards building the church. Good luck as it continues it's growth.
You know, Jason, I stopped by here and read this last night and forgot to leave my comment! (No blonde comments, please!) Congrats on seeing all of your efforts coming to fruition. This has been an interesting developmental story that I've enjoyed following with you. I know, with dedicated members such as yourself, this church is going to be incredibly successful! Here's to continued growth of your wonderful church...
Jason Our church, Covenant Presbyterian, was in a location that ceased to allow for growth. Two years ago we moved to a new sanctuary on 15 acres in an area of residential development - we sold the old site to a developer for a handsome price. We have reached out to our new community socially, not ecumenically and our growth is phenomenal. Due to the size of our site we hold many different outdoor events to accquaint the community with us.
In our old location Vacation Bible School may have had 12 or 15 children. This summer we had 56 attendees in our new facility. We served dinner each night and invited the parents to join us and rheir children. We are bringing young families in to the fold. My husband has served as both an elder and deacon and I am currently a deacon. We understand and applaud your work, Yours in Christ Karen
Jason - You never cease to amaze me. I am amazes that you have found the time to help organize a new church. That is really wonderful!
Congrats, Jason! You sure are jack of all trades! P.S. I really like your "pop-top" social media icons. Where did you get those?
Thanks to all of you for your comments. As for the pervasive question, "Where do you find the time?", I don't have a great answer. I just do it somehow. :)
Steve - I got them from this page: http://webdesignledger.com/freebies/the-best-social-media-icons-all-in-one-place
Good stuff J....my dad's medical partner was involved with the same and now it's the largest church in our area. May God be with you.
Jason
Being a part of the beginning of a church has got to be something to be proud of. Way to go and I bet you double in size real soon.
I see that God is still blessing all over. Glad to know that your church is getting off the ground and running. I will keep y'all in my prayers for your continued success.
