What Prompted Chris Brogan to Quote Vanilla Ice During Our Discussion?

Just in case you missed our show the other day (Social Media Edge), you might want to take an hour of your time and listen to the archive recording.  We drew our largest "live" audience that day, and the archive listens are also racking up quickly. Chris currently has over 35,000 blog subscribers, and he is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

With that in mind, what could possibly bring Chris Brogan, co-author of "Trust Agents", to quote Vanilla Ice?

(To answer the unspoken questions that are surely on your mind: Yes, there's only one Vanilla Ice and no, he is not generally considered to be a marketing expert.)

Find out for yourself by listening right here:

Ahhh! I'm having flashbacks! lol.  But VI somewhat redeemed himself when he was on The Surreal World. He has some major issues though. =P

I vividly remember a friend of mine in grade school coming to school telling us that his brother shaved his eye brows when he was sleeping, when the reality was that he tried to put those Vanilla Ice lines in them ...

I was on that call.  It's definitely been a while.  I heard that call out on Vanilla Ice.  Stop, collaborate and listen.....

Carolyn - It looks like one of two things happened here:

  • It rolled by too quickly for people to even see it
  • People are not familiar enough with Chris (or maybe Vanilla Ice?)

Jason - I still haven't gotten around to listening to the archive, but I will get to it today.  I actually spent some time with Mr. Rob Van Winkle several times in my life and found him to be quite the interesting character.  I'm even in his Behind The Music...sort of.  There's a photo that goes by and my hand is in the photo - I was sitting off to the side and then cropped the photo just enough that I didn't appear in it.  But if you look closely, there's my hand!  Here's a photo from the night he appeared onstage with us.

Matt - It looks like that picture was taken in a soup kitchen?  I must admit you look far better without the blond hair....and the pedophile 'stache.  Kidding, of course.  Or am I?   :-)

Jason - Ahh, much better.  The photo was in a kitchen actually.  Not a soup kitchen, but part of the kitchen of the Hard Rock in Miami Florida.  It was quite a nice backstage (not really - every other Hard Rock is amazing - this one, not so much).  The 'stache was terrible - no one told me how bad it looked.  I think I had shaved my head a few days before that and dyed it blonde.  I was bored of my scraggly long hair.  I went through a lot of hair changes in the band.
