In case you missed it, our guest today on Social Media Edge was Jeff Turner, president of Real Estate Shows, serial entrepreneur, and Renaissance man. Jeff also reigns in my mind as the most active listener I have met in person to date.
Much of our talk today revolved around effective ways to build community around a company or brand. Obviously, if you are marketing yourself, YOU are the brand, so this has value for everyone.
I have a lot of respect for Jeff, and I was again struck by how sharp he really is. To give you some idea of how well-respected he has become, Chris Brogan called him a "superhero" during our recent interview with him in November. Yes, truly.
At any rate, I just wanted to encourage you to listen if you have a chance, as there are some terrific lessons therein, and it was a somewhat high-level discussion of social media and its potential. You can also learn about Jeff's "missing ingredient" when people speak of building community. If you have no idea what any of this stuff means, maybe you should be listening more often. :-)
One of my favorite statements today was when Jeff spoke of how our behavior determines our values. This is solid truth, in my humble opinion.
Give it a listen sometime:

Thanks for that Jason.
I was chatting a bit with Jeff on Facebook recently and he said he was going to be sharing some new things with us here on AR. Is this the beginning (again) of the great mind of Jeff?
Thanks Jason! I watched the video with Jeff at Bar Camp about cutting grass, that was terrific! I also listed to the great conversation of you and Jeff yesterday. Wishing your family a very Happy New Year!
Lisa - Good question - quite possibly so. :)
Dona - Thanks very much for listening. Jeff is a smart one.
I had to jump off of this call before it was over - plan to listen though - thanks for the easy link.
Steve - You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it!
Good tease ... now I need to listen and find out what the missing ingredient is!
Jason,
To my surprise it was a pleasure to listen to Jeff today.
His current attitude on tolerance and his new stance on transparency deserved much more time than you had. Put him on again.
Bill
Thanks for sharing the link. I missed this one.
Jason, live BlogTalk keeps eluding me. Being a longtime subscriber to "Turner's Perspective" I know what you mean. Your description "the most active listener" is so appropriate. Thanks, I will listen to it soon.
I have followed Jeff's articles, tweets, websites, podcasts, vlogs, etc. for years and he is as solid and well rounded as they come, a great source of info with a genuine passion to share his insight to help others. Thanks for sharing this.
When Jeff Turner speaks, I'm all ears. I'm listening it on the background now.
Jason I need to make time to listen your show. I am sure the listeners can learn and share so much. Happy New Year.
Will give it a listen as I am sure that Jeff had a lot of information worth listening to.
Heading on over to give it a listen right now Jason.
Anyone with "serial entrepreneur, and Renaissance man" in their title deserves to be heard!
Jason I know I would not mind meeting Jeff! You are lucky to have had the opportunity.
Who in the world is this Jeff Turner guy about whom you speak?
Jason,
Jeff is someone I highly respect, and also just a very nice person! Thanks for the interview.
Jason - Thanks for the information - I will indeed check it out!
Gary - Actually, every show that we've done is recorded and made into a podcast. You can access them via iTunes by searching for "JCKC" or "Social Media Edge". The archives are on our Facebook page, too: http://facebook.com/socialmediaedge
Thanks Jason for posting a reminded that we can listen to these shows after they have aired. This, as well as a bunch of others I need to check out.
Hope your family has a Happy New Year!
Ann
Jason,
Love being able to download your shows into my ITunes. By the way love the Ozzy intro!
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the link..I'm going to listen as soon as I finish this! Happy New Year to you and your family!!
Hi Jason. First time caller. Long time listener...
OK. Just kidding.
But I am listening for the first time. I have tried before, but never seemed to have success...
Maybe I didn't try hard enough.:)
Anyway, you have just been announced. I enjoy "Crazy Train" being your song...
I look forward to hearing the rest of the show.
Thanks for sharing,
Ken
It's a great idea in theory (and I think I even came up with it over ten years ago, but never got around to making it! ;) ), however, I'm wondering if the image would ever be hard on the eyes? Happy NYE!
Taylor - I don't know what you are referring to with your comment. Sorry -
