Not long ago, I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that Raincamp is coming to Dallas, which is a mere three hour drive for me. Since it's also my hometown (born and raised there), I have a free place to stay. It's called "Mom's House". It comes with all the luxuries of a five-star hotel with none of the cost. :)
I'm really looking forward to this event as an opportunity to learn and hang out with my friends, some of whom I have yet to meet in person.
I had a chance to meet Brad Andersohn about 15 months ago in Houston, but I haven't ever met Bob Stewart or Jon Washburn "live" yet, so that will be fun. I know that my friend John Cannata will be there, and I think Steve Shatsky will, too. I met those guys in December when I was up in Dallas. Lori Cain from Tulsa is also going to be there from what I understand, as will Loreena Yeo.
Who else is coming? I would love to know who else I'll get a chance to see/meet.
If you aren't signed up yet, you can do that right here.

What kinds of activities do they have at the Rain Camp?
I have yet to attend a RainCamp event but am very interested. Are the individual sessions pretty short or are the individual sessions generally 90 minutes or longer?
Ralph - I guess I could have also included this link which has another level of detail. :)
http://raincampdallas.com/
Sam - I'm not sure, honestly. This is my first time to attend one. :)
I hope I can Go. I want to go! I am so excited for those who do go.
Cindy - I hope you can make it, too!
Hi Jason! Well, I was trying to shoot for the one in DC but, now that you mention it, I may prefer to come to Dallas. I've got the frequent flyer miles but, I want to check out the hotels and just see. You've given me something to do before I turn in!
I'll give you a ring tomorrow if you're free.
Debe - I hope you can make it. We are bound to meet in person sometime this year, right? Call me anytime tomorrow - look forward to it!
Are you going to DC?
We are going to DC in May, I think, for the NAR mid-year thing, but mainly to just meet some people and have a family trip (especially for the Smithsonian!).
Gotcha! I'm going to check it out--right now, my schedule will allow me to come to Dallas--Jet Blue doesn't fly in there though and they're the best priced tickets out of our expensive airport! :-)
That probably didn't make sense but, I'm trying to save our air miles for a BIG vacation for the two of us instead of me being selfish and using them all up for business!
Debe - I completely understand. I do hope you can make it to Dallas, just in case we don't make it to DC. :)
From the desk of David Dee,
Jason, looks like a fabulous event with great info. Too bad it is far from where I am. Maybe it'll be in LA one day. Have a great time! :D
I'd love to be there ... I'd love to be in TX for any reason! I get to spend the day with the Dakno boys today in Asheville... does that count for anything?
David - I can't remember the exact list of locations where they are planning upcoming Raincamps, but I bet Brad or Bob would know. :)
Susie - What if I wear a cowboy hat and boots? Would you come to the event then? :)
Okay--All signed up! Can't WAIT!
Debe - That's awesome! Can't wait to meet you in person!
BIG NC DITTO!
:-)
Hello, Jason:
I will be there with boots on. OK, probably no boots. Unless it keeps raining the way it has. Of course, since it's a Rain Camp, most people probably won't complain about the rain. I mean it just wouldn't feel right.
Hey Jason... I'll be there! Looking forward to seeing you again!
Jason, I won't be making it to Dallas, but you can bet that I'll be there in May in D.C. Looking forward to meeting you then!
Jason - I'd like to attend but it is a bit to far to go. ActiveRain currently has no plans to have any RainCamps near Toronto based on the reponse I received when the NYC RainCamp was announced.
Hi Jason, just wanted to say hello! I have been speaking with Jeremy about working with you guys. I'll be at the DC raincamp!
Betsy
I am signed up - can't wait! Judi Barrett is coming from Oklahoma also! Maybe Bo Kociuba from Yukon, OK and Debbie Solano from Tulsa.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning so much!
I know you'll have a fabulous time! They are getting rave reviews. But this year Jason we are heading to your area for the Prudential Sales conference in Austin. Never been there so looking forward to it. Then off to RETech South... I do hope you'll give us one of your splendid reviews (both you and Debe!) With lots of pictures too!!!
Jason- With all this snow Dallas sounds like a GREAT idea, but I think I will have to wait until DC in May. Be sure to update us hourly on what is going on!
sounds like fun but the air fare would be killer. :)
Jason, I'm coming and bringing newbie Lisa Stafford with me. I very much look forward to meeting you!
I look forward to seeing you and everyone else in our region in the flesh!
Wow! another raid camp, you guys are busy busy. When are you coming to the Seacoast NH area. Boston would work it's only an 1 hr drive from me.
Come on up!
Patricia
I went to Raincamp in San Francisco. It was a day well spent.
I so want to be there. It's not the cost or the distance that's keeping me away though. It's the time. Thankfully I'm very busy with my work. But I have set a goal to attend on of the RainCamps this year and I WILL meet my goal.
Have a great time. Meet lots of good folks. Don't forget to write!
I am going to see if I can reschedule a few things and make it up there. I am sure I would learn a lot.
Tom
Jason: I am jealous. The closest Rain Camp got to me on the East Coast was New York. I hope it finds it's way to Washington, DC soon.
Hi Jason -- I hope to hear good stuff from you and others about this camp, so please keep us informed, many of us love reading about the event.
Jason, My daughter absolutely LOVED Raincamp here in NYC. I have no doubt you'll enjoy it just as much or even more (Mom's is definitely a huge bonus :). Have a great time!!
Sounds like loads of fun....wish I could.... :(
I wouldn't say I have "free" room and board as my price of admission to stay at my mom's is bringing my daughter. But that also entitles me to some veal chops and double-baked potatoes!!
Jason, sounds great. If I had more notice or if it was a little closer. Have a great time.
Wait up...Debe Maxwell is going to be there? Wow I may have to reconsider and of course I almost always wear boots!
Jason - We went to NYC and it was terrific.. Hope you enjoy your's as well... sorry we can't make it down to you guys but I'm sure you'll be busy with everybody that will be attending... What fun you have to look forward too..
I do now know why I did not participate when it was in San Francisco, a mere 45 minute plane ride. Now, I am forced to wait until it comes back my way. Hope you have a great time!
I am all signed up. Right here in my backyard? I would be crazy to not attend.
I'm working on our CFO to let me go to Dallas Jason; I'll be posting in big bold letters if I can come. I would really like to make Rain Camp Dallas!

As you photo indicated (thumbs up), I'll see you there!
Jason - has it been 15 months already??? Holy Cow, where'd the time go? lol~ Looking forward to seeing you again my friend.
I promise I won't stand on a chair this time to give you a big bear hug!! ROFL~ :-)))
Jason - I will be there! And I'm bringing along my friend & team member Carol. We are pumped about meeting everyone. It's only a 4 hour drive for us.
I'd like to go to a Raincamp, but need to have one closer to NC.
I'll be there in mind & spirit. Donna refused to swing by and pick me up.
Jason,
Don and I are so looking forward to meeting you. We are driving up the night before and may stay an extra day or two in Dallas and just enjoy being away from home.
It will be exciting to meet everyone and put "real" faces with profile pics, etc. I make a habit of calling a Rainer every few days so I have voices for several to go with their profile pics, but we always look different in person!
Thanks for reminding everyone to get their tickets bought.. What with dealing with mom's death and all I had neglected to get my tickets, but I got them today for both Don and I.
See you there, haven't been across the border :) in about 30 days or so even though I'm more in Texas and Arkansas than in Oklahoma.
Our weather is more like Texas... we are only 20 miles to Texas border and about the same to Arkansas border. Much, much closer to Dallas than OKC. Most of my clients are from Texas.
See you in 11 days 13 hours and 5 minutes!!!
Am I excited or WHAT???
Oh, I wish I was going! Reading the blog posts after the event, it sounds like a great networking event and extremely informative.
When is raincamp coming to southern California? I missed out on the BarCamp in San Diego.
I'm going to be there for sure. Glad to hear you are able to make it.
Hi Jason. You are sooo lucky. Hope you write a review. Have fun for us! ~ Lana
Jason, I wish I could totally fly out and go to RainCamp. I had so much fun meeting co-bloggers and friend and getting to actually meet the ActiveRain Team! Bob Steward and Co. Rock for sure. Ben Kinney is a good inspriational speaker and it was completely fun! Enjoy and tell us all about it!
I considered coming to Dallas when it was announced, but I had hoped they'd be here last month, and my TX sister will be out here from 2/11 to 2/14 for my bday, and that would've been part of why I'd have gone.
For those of you who are coming to Raincamp Dallas, I look forward to meeting every one of you.
Brad - Actually, if you were to stand on a chair again, that would be classic!
Perhaps it's best if Russell Lewis doesn't come along this time. He and I have a tendency to be like junior high kids trying to make each other laugh so hard that milk comes out of our noses. Class clowns, perhaps?
Enjoy!!!! Great reminder for those in TX- I wish it weren't so far. The one in NYC was fabulous! Still struggling to use/ decipher/ understand/ read my notes/ ??? all we learned!
But such fun to see faces for real that we talk with here.
I'm signed up Jason & I know Loreena Yeo, Tom Burris and John Cannata are as well from my area. Looking forward to meeting a lot of the folks who I "virtually" know in the real world. =)
My marketing director and I have signed up and I am very excited. I hear wonderful things about this event and that it is real hands on stuff and not just a lot of hoopla and promoting products...
See ya and hope to meet all of you.
Cheers,
Lane
Have fun at camp!!!
Rain Camp is great. Glad to hear you are getting it down in Dallas. Have fun.
I sure wish I could be close to one of these so i could attend ...have fun Jason!
Have my ticket and am ready to go...Looking forward to meeting my 'Raining' friends...from all I've read we gonna rock the pad! See you all soon!
With smiles,
Bo in Yukon
OK that does it I have to be here to meet Debe Maxwell and egg you on my friend to misbehave and frankly to see face to face all of the great folks showing up. I remember ReBar camp and this is probably going to be even better! (even if they have to separate us! ;-O
Eh that Bob Stewart ... he's ok live. Haha. I had a great time meeting him and Brad. They were great to hang out with and share. Very personable. Maybe one of these days you and I will be at an event together, it would be great to hang out for a bit. I had an absolute blast at Raincamp and I'm sure you will too.
I was so sorry I missed the NYC RainCamp and Inman at the last minute....but I had lots of fun reading about it and seeing the pictures. You are going to have so much fun! It looks like I will have to wait until it comes to Atlanta (which I hope is soon)!
I'll be there! Bought my Platinum Pass last week before they sell out (only 5 left when I bought). I need to get back on board that Active Rain train and knew this would be the perfect way to get me fired up! Hope to meet you there.
I am thinking about going. I don't have a lot of contacts from active rain. do you think it would be worth me going? its only a 2.5 hour drive from norman. Maybe we could do lunch or something.
Well I will not be at this one It will be up to Debe to represent for NC. I wish I could go as you get so much out of these events.
Brian - I guess it depends on how much blogging you are intending to do. It will be a great event, I'm sure, and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of people in person for the first time. :)
I am in Dallas, coincidentally, but I do not have plans to attend RainCamp. Is anyone organizing a Tweetup?
Hi Jason, I have signed up and looking forward to lots of learning!
