I'm 39 and a Half Today! Perhaps I will half celebrate.

When I was a kid, I remember being excited about my "half birthday".  For anyone who may be unfamiliar with this concept, it's the day you are halfway between birthdays.

As in, "I'm five and a half today!"  From that day forward, you are no longer 5, or 8, or 12.  The "and a half" has to be added when someone refers to your age.

For me, my half birthday is today.  My birthday is August 17th.  However, instead of just rounding my age up to 40, or 40-ish, I will require all of my friends and family to refer to me as "39 and a half" for a few more months.

Clearly, my goal is a bit different from when I was growing up.  In this case, it's to ward off saying that I'm 40, not to emphasize how close it is for me.  I'm really not bothered by it, but I think the emphasis on the half is funny.

I guess if people guessed my age higher all the time, I would be more hesitant to reveal how old I am, but I still pass for 32-35 most of the time, so I'm happy when people act surprised.  If you are not surprised, or if you actually thought I was even older, feel free to keep that to yourself.  :)

So, I guess I need to celebrate my half birthday today, huh?  Perhaps I should buy (or consume) half a cake?

Maybe I'll go buy some wine and see if I get carded.  That happened to me twice over the past year.  That would make it a very good day indeed.

Only two months until you're 39 2/3 and only three months until you're 39 3/4!  You can milk your "birthday" for quite awhile.

Well, which ever half of you celebrates, make sure you don't over do it or the half that doesn't celebrate is going to be really, really mad at you!!!

Happy 39 -1/2 birthday!

Oh Jason you're not even 40 yet!  You're a baby! I still think in halfs.....its the 2nd half that lends itself to the downward (or I guess in this case upward) slide.........One of my daugher's 'half-way' mark is usually the first day of school; the other's is Halloween; and my son's is Valentines! See fun enough for two celebrations! :-)

Congrats to the better half -whichever half that may be! :-)

Jason, I really like the idea of having an extra piece of 1/2 Birthday Cake each year but even though I'm not here to burst your bubble, you're already into your 40th year "ole'" Buddy!

Jason, Hap Birt!

That's half a happy birthday.

Hope you have a great day.  Since my birthday is on July 2nd, my half-birthday of January 1st is always easy to remember.

Happy half birthday Jason... 6 more months left to be 30 something!  I remember counting up to my 50th last year... it was quite traumatic and all I could think and talk about for quite a while (my friends can attest to this boring subject!).  I counted down the evening before my 50th... every half hour or so and updated my facebook page how many more hours I had left in my 40's!  By the time it happened, I was quite immune to turning 50 and really grateful to still be here!  My 40's were wonderful and you have lots of good stuff to look forward to.  Enjoy your half birthday!

Jason, now wait a minute if your celebrating 39.5 as a half birthday does that mean your really going to celebrate 80 in August which is a full bday?

See how bad this business affects your thinking. I am thinking like a seller. The longer on the market the more the price should be?

I've been here were you are. I have you by fifteen. It gets better with time.

Jason..H p y b r h a  !  That's the 1/2 of Happy birthday you are celebrating.  I keep trying to round my age down.  It works on paper but not on my actual body.

Jason, That's a great concept if you are young, but if you are older you getting older after 1/2 year - i don't like that idea. Happy 1/2 Birthday anyway.

Jason:  I'm not fearful of 40 at all.  Will be turning that age in June.  Let's make 40 the new 20.  I plan on taking inline skating lessons.  What about you?  :)

Jason,

I think it's wonderful that you even know on what day you are 1/2 year older.  We should all celebrate each and every new day that is given to us and after visiting with you a little on the phone etc, I have a feeling that you do.

Life is such a gift.

Enjoyed meeting you at Raincamp even if it was very short on my way out.

Take Care and Keep Doing What you Do!  It works.

Ok, so you could actually skip the cake and just eat icing... and an icing tip for you... the whipped cream icing is worthless calories... who ever invented it wasn't that smart.  You should stick with the good old fashioned butter cream or lard icing... nothing better!

Posted by Linda Mayer 5 months ago

Half a minute, you're how old?  Congratulations.  You have 6 months left to enjoy the 30s.  Make the most of it. However, the 40s are going to be even better as are the 50s.  So don't stress about it.

Happy 39.5 Jason!  Keep in mind, birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live!  However, if you start doubling them (every 6 months) things might move a little faster, not slower... Good luck getting over the hill!

Happy Half-Birthday, Jason!

39 1/2?  You're still a young pup! :)

The first time I wasn't carded when I bought wine I was excited.  Now, many ma'am's later and many no-check wine checkouts, I am THRILLED when someone asks for my I.D., or thinks I'm in my early 40's.

Oh, I was thrilled when the person asked for my I.D., but not after they told me they were just checking to see if I was eligible for some sort of early-bird discount or other.

Yikes.

Enjoy your day....OH, and thanks for that great social media marketing class you and Jeremy did the other day....I learned a TON!!
