On March 11th, which is the day before SXSW Interactive starts, Austin will be hosting a very cool RE Barcamp event downtown. I plan to be there helping with check-in at the beginning, and probably hanging out at the after party, too. :)
If you don't know what a Barcamp is, you have to come and find out. Basically, it's a day to network,
learn, and hang out as we discuss social media, technology, and other online tools to help your real estate business. It's also called an "unconference", which means that ANYONE can show up and lead a session.
Who should come? Realtors, lenders, title reps, escrow officers, appraisers, inspectors, virtual assistants, home stagers and anyone else in the real estate world (or any other world -- PR, Marketing, etc) who wants to improve their social media game.
There is space for up to 300 people, and so far over 60 have signed up. If you are within driving distance, you cannot miss this one. I'm thankful that it's only about 20 minutes from my house! If you have to make special arrangements and bump appointments, I still think this day will be a memorable one for you and worth the trouble. After my first Barcamp in Houston back in 2008, I have loved the concept behind these events.
One of the best parts is the cost: it's 100% FREE to participants. How can you pass this up?
If you know anyone interested in sponsoring, I think we still need 2 more sponsors to make everything happen. Sponsorships are only $250 each, and that will get you on the t-shirt, etc. The last I heard, we need to know by Friday about any additional sponsors in order to ensure that you will appear on the event shirt.
If you have any questions, let me know and I will do my best to answer them. I hope to see you there!
To RSVP today, visit http://rebarcamp.com/austin and click on the tab to register. You can also click on the "Who's Coming?" tab to see who has currently signed up to attend.
See you there!

Hey, Jason, had a great time at RainCamp, can't wait for ReBar Camp. See you there.
SXSW and REBarCamp provide a great opportunity to really get immersed in social media. Looking forward to following the video feeds and tweets from Austin.
Jason,
You're getting to go to all the cool events lately! I'm waiting for the D.C. RainCamp and looking forward to our next REBarCamp in the area as well. Today I'm off to the RE/MAX Int'l Convention where I'll be presenting on a panel on "Social Networking Best Practices."
I hope your Austin REBarCamp is a big success.
I couldn't go to the last one in NY because RainCamp was at the exact same time. But a lot of cool peeps showed up for it. I only wish I would have made better plans to hook up with them!
I'm looking forward to this. It should be good to meet everyone and exchange ideas. Especially like that it's in Central Austin - no travel required!
I went BarCamp in Raleigh back in November.......it was such a great experience. If this one was a little closer I would be there.
I so wish I could work this into my schedule. There are so many of you folks in and around the Austin area that I really want to meet....Oh, and the ReBar Camp would be good to attend too!
Hi Jason,
Count me in !!!! RainCamp Dallas was great .... !!!
ReBar Camp Austin will add to my arsenal of knowledge
Thank You,
Robert
Okay, RSVP'd, got it on my calendar!
This will be such fun! If I were a bit closer, I'd join in~
I have RSVP'd for REBar and will see you there. Right now Im debating staying the night or coming back home afterwards.
Wish I could be there... Maybe the next time it is in NJ/NY area. Looking forward to tweet updates.
I have only had an opportunity to attend the on-line version and from that I could tell the off-line version would be rather worthwhile. Have fun.
From the desk of David Dee,
Jason, sounds like a great hang out spot to mingle and learn. Wonder if they have something similar here in CA.
David - I would recommend checking out the main site at http://rebarcamp.com. I guarantee they have this event in various locales in California.
I wish I was closer. Sounds like fun! All my best!
Sounds like a great time. I think we have one coming up in Seattle this month as well.
Jason,
Not coming to BarCamp but had just tried to post that I'll be at your webinar tomorrow, but that blog had too many comments, didn't load...
:)
Jason it seems you guys are always up for some kind of award. I am sure it helps with making sales:)
