Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

I am highly excited, because a friend of my nephew's got me two sideline passes to the Dallas Cowboys training camp at the Alamodome in San Antonio.  I am going with one of my good friends tomorrow (wife is not interested, son is too young to tolerate it for four hours).  We are planning to get there by 1:30 when the doors open.  The practice runs from 2:30 to 4:30, and apparently right after practice is the best time to get autographs and mingle with the players and coaches.

Having never had sideline passes to ANYTHING before, and since I have been a Cowboys fan since I was two (born and raised in Dallas, so it's kind of a law there), this should be a great day.  I was looking for something cool to get signed (football, pennant, etc.), but I didn't have much luck today.  I know that they have an extensive fan shop at the camp itself, because my mom and I went last week and took my son and nephew.

Actually, one of the other things I am thankful for is that it is INDOORS and air conditioned, since August in San Antonio is typically miserably hot.

Wish me luck - maybe I'll sell one of them a house!

Sounds like a good time. Maybe you can sit on a bike next to TO and chat him up a bit.

Maybe you be able to pray with them...back in my day...when I was in my 20s...they were a Christian group...and prayed all the time......

You are not the first person to mention TO on a stationary bike to me.  When I went last week, TO was practicing fully, but I guess he got hurt after that?

I would love the opportunity to pray with them.  Maybe if I dress appropriately, I can pass for an assistant coach.

Maybe I could find a jersey number not being used and just dress as a PLAYER!

Have a good time and yes, perhaps you will sell one of them a home.

Jason:

Indoor air conditioned training camp?  My son is 15 years old and plays on a high school team. They are doing 2 a days now in full equipment and in 95 degree weather.

I guess he has something to look forward to if you makes it to the big leagues.

Hey Hugh - It was a great time today.  We got to mingle a little bit with the players and a couple of past players.  By the way, the last time I checked, even though it has been awhile since the Cowboys last superbowl win, they have won THREE times since the Giants' last victory in 1991.  Sorry to give you grief - the Giants are actually one of my other favorite teams.  My mom lived next door to Jesse Armstead when he was still playing with them - I saw recently that he signed a one-day contact so that he could officially retire as a Giant.
