Let's Say Thanks!
Let's join our voices here at Active Rain and Support our Troops and LetsSayThanks and send a quick post card from you and your families! Joan Whitebrook challenged us all to do our part and post within our own communities and send a postcard to our troops! Xerox has made this an easy challenge to do with their user friendly site. It's easier than composing an email. I want to challenge all of Austin and surrounding areas and my blogging community to share your well wishes to those sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, mothers and fathers who have spent time away from their loved ones for our freedoms! As we comfortably gather on Christmas morning or snuggle close to our families at night, let us remember them and the sacrifices they make daily. May you all take a moment of your time and click two clicks away to send a postcard from your family!
The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country. It takes less than one minute to hit the send button! Sometimes the smallest of gestures mean the most, won't you join me and other Active Rain members to wish our Troops a Happy Holiday!

Jason,
What a wonderful post. I feel especially blessed to have my son home from Iraq and out of the Army this Christmas.
Jason -- I actually was the one who started the challenge when I arrived at 100K points Active Rain Challenge - Saying thanks to the troops! http://activerain.com/blogsview/277230/ACTIVE-RAIN-CHALLENGE-SAYING/ I am glad you did another blog -- This means a lot to the men and women who are away from their families during the holidays.
Well done, Jason. That card will work just fine coming from my neck of the woods. I owe you a phone call, buddy. Still trying to work out a few kinks on this new phone (like retrieving missed call numbers!). I'll track you down tomorrow.
JASON: I had never heard of this, but it's a great idea. I just created a personal card for one of the troops. The pictures that those kids drew were something else. It's nice to see that they're being made aware of the fact that not all families are together during this holiday season, and that they should appreciate what they have.
Jason, great post. Sometimes we forget those who are out there fighting for our freedom our Heroes. Thank you.
Jason... Excellent idea! Thank you for sharing with me... Love the stocking graphic...
BTW... I have to catch up on your posts...and my comments. I can't keep up with you! ;o)
While flying out to the NAR Convention and back, I saw two things, both here in Atlanta.
First, at the TSA security checkpoint, there was almost no line, but there were a few of us there. A uniformed soldier walked up, and the TSA person moved him to the front of the line. One woman seemed a little "miffed", and the TSA girl said "here is a soldier that is willing to lay his life on the line to protect all of us... step aside to let him do his job."
When we were coming back, and getting all off of the train near baggage claim, one gentleman (passenger) was standing at the bottom of the escalator. He stood to the side and let the several uniformed soldiers that were also on the train get on the escalator first. He shook the hand of each, and thanked them. At the top of the escalator was a USO info person, and also many families greeting their heroes.
Even sitting here now, I get a little teary thinking of the guys that were coming directly back from the ME, seeing their families.
We need to do everything we can to thank them.
I have seen this post so many times in this holiday season....
I am STILL featuring it......
Sending those cards is SO EASY!!!
