I debated over whether or not to post about this or not, but then I decided that this is perhaps the best possible platform to share this information. I never considered ActiveRain as a recruiting source until recently. I was thinking about the types of agents that I would like to work with, and I have read about and spoken with many high-caliber agents during my 7+ months here at AR.
So, I wanted to let everyone know that I am looking to hire several experienced agents in the very near future. I might consider a new or newer agent under the right circumstances (i.e. someone with a lot of potential). I trust the ActiveRain friends that I have made, so if you know anyone in Austin who is currently licensed and unhappy with their brokerage, please point them to this post or feel free to give out my phone number or email.
I wish I could say that the picture to the right is of my current sales team, but it's not. Those people appear to be locked in some sort of ritualistic "high five", or maybe practicing for the next Hands Across America event.
Here is some information that I would like to share with any potential candidates:
About Us: We offer a very laid-back work environment and a nice office in one of the best parts of town (Westlake Hills). We provide leads from one of Austin's top-rated real estate websites along with computer, unlimited long distance, signs, lockboxes, free color laser printing, large cubicles, business cards, training and support, and more! The commission split is quite competitive as well.
About You: You are an licensed agent with new and/or resale home sales experience. You are friendly, likeable, honest, intelligent, and fun. You are looking for a supportive work environment with an experienced broker who wants to help you succeed. You may work from our office or from your home office.
If you want the inside scoop on what I look for, here's a post I wrote back in August that might help you:
View from the broker's desk - what makes a good agent?
Please note that "sense of humor" is on my list. Don't contact me if you are missing this gene, because I can virtually guarantee that we won't get along.
If you are interested, please contact me anytime via phone or email:

Jason@austintexashomes.com - If you have a resumé, feel free to send it over. If not, we can sit down and talk sometime anyway. I always hated writing resumes, so they are certainly not a necessity in my mind.
I hope to hear from you soon!

Jason - I never thought about recruiting from AR, but now that I think about it where better to look for potential recruits. It certainly seems as though the agents/brokers I've met through AR are at least a notch, if not more, above the average agent. Good luck. How many agents are you looking to take on?
Jason: What kind of relocation moving fee do you pay?!! I was just in Austin last week for a visit and just LOVE it there! (I'm kidding, of course--I could never leave my beloved Charlotte--I just had to comment on your well-written job ad!)
JESSE - I hadn't considered it until recently, but I will be interested to see if this brings any inquiries. I would probably like to find 3-5 good people. I agree with your take on AR members.
DEBE - If you come to Austin again, let me know and I will take you to lunch! Thanks for your comments -
JOHN - I bet you would fit in nicely with our group. That is a long commute, however. I don't blame you for staying put.
JENNIFER - I'm so glad to see you here. I actually thought of some of your past remarks when I was writing this "ad". I remember that you mentioned that you would love to work for someone like me, which was a high compliment indeed. Thanks for the plug!
PAUL - Fair enough. Also, with regard to "The Daver", I already made that decision very quickly.
JUDI - I will do that if we re-visit the idea.
Ok, well, we can discuss it a little on April 12th if we get a few minutes. I love the company I'm with now but there's something else I want that I'm not sure I can accomplish there.
Jason, no, the checks are going to Ricki so I'm not keeping count. I think a lot of people have said they are coming but checks are arriving slowly. Now, that we've announced it to all of the Texas Active Rain Members, I'm sure more people will commit.
We've been planning it for months -- it's nice to be able to announce it to everyone!!! I also sent an Invitation to the AR Guys & Gals -- I hope some of them will consider coming down here to join us!?!
Good idea for you and Alan and your wives to drive over together. I know Deb's coming and Marchel. Carl, Jem, Anna Horton, Cheri Lyn and some others from Ricki's office.
Got my post written and posted too -- with pictures of Bandera.
I posted it in AR Gatherings, Lonestar R.E Prof., Texas Real Estate Group, All Things Texas, and another Texas Real Estate Group. Go ahead and announce it in some of your groups. Since we can only post to 5 groups it's difficult to get it in all the groups. There may be some Texas Groups I've missed. We'd also love to have any of the Lousiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma members who want to come. I've asked Jackie Peraza just in case she's down visiting her daughter -- I'd love to meet her. And, yes, I've asked THE one and only, Lisa Heindel, famous blogger from NOLA!!! lol
Jason, I will work for you if:
I'm really not THAT picky, so at least meet 4/6 of the above aforementioned conditions.
JUDI - I may write something tomorrow for this.
AUDREY - Consider yourself hired. This world needs more funky fresh blog graphics. I will meet exactly four of your six criteria (3-6). I can't control the first two myself. As for the armadillos, I can only promise that you will never see a LIVE armadillo.
Jason, that'll be great -- I look forward to reading it!!! Send me a link when you have it ready -- I'll link it to my post and Ricki's
ROFLMAO -- Audrey, don't be afraid of Armadillos -- I've NEVER seen a live one -- well, yeah, at the zoo!!! Usually you see them upside down on the side of the road -- DEAD!!!!
Gee, what a concept. You're using your blog post for....networking? Recruiting?....brilliant!
...but don't you think you should be like so many others, who just take it upon themselves to blanket the entire network with unsolicited emails? People are so impressed with SPAM these days. It's such an effective promotional tool....
<end of rant>
Jason,
No, I'm not applying...but I can't imagine working with someone who has no sense of humor either!!! Thanks, Fran
What about Paulmadillos? Are there any Paulmadillos?
RICH - Thanks for putting that in writing. It gives me license to SPAM at will now. :-)
KAREN ANNE - This is a great idea. I need to try to catch Abby doing this. I also think the Jennifer version would be entertaining!
CHRISTOPHER - I do remember that, and I hope things are going well for you. AR is an awesome network.
JOEY - Consider it done.
BRIAN - I hope we can stir up some good prospects from this. If not, I will pay to advertise in the newspaper, which has brought surprisingly good results for us in the past.
FRAN - Darn! I thought you were headed to Austin. Thanks for stopping by!
RICKI - Thanks for the endorsement. I think it's a great place to work, but I am slightly biased.
KELLY - I think it's a fun, laidback environment. Perhaps TOO laidback sometimes, to be thoroughly honest, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
CHRISSY - It is fun! I hope to find a handful of good agents in the upcoming weeks.
JENNIFER - If I can figure out how to YouTube, I may just do something soon.
AUDREY - Since you left such a creative comment, I will give you a creative response, in the form of multiple choice:
PAUL - You might be (and I am not endorsing that), but that picture definitely is NOT.
DANNY - I think this is a great place to find potential agents. Time will tell if this brings any decent candidates out of the woodwork.
Paulmadillo? That's just hilarious! Not making fun of Paul, but lovin' Audrey's sense of humor!
Jason, I'm sure you'll build an awesome team! Hopefully, you have some lurkers out there polishing their resumes, bettering their blogs, and polishing up their listings so they make a great impression on you right away. Good luck, and I'm looking forward to your welcome blog!
NAT - It is funny stuff! Audrey is fast becoming one of my favorite commenters. I hope to find a few folks to join our crew soon. Thanks, as always, for your terrific remarks.
wantneed to make whether or not it's business, personal, community or church related. My own private office with paid full-time assistant? No Desk fees, sign fees, lockbox fees.I'd answer that question but Jason is a wise business man and had me sign a non-disclosure agreement. Shucks!
Jason.... I have thought about the same thing....how nice it would be to have some of these awesome folks on AR to work with . They all seem like go getters!!!! Carol Johnson with Recruiting Pipeline is a wonderful person and I have joined her network. You should check it out.
Good Luck

JUDI - Amanda got a comparable deal. It's on a 10-90 split (10% to her, of course).
AMANDA - Make sure you honor our agreement.
JUDI - Actually, she wanted something a little bit sportier:
Jason, how is she going to take clients out in that sporty car!??? Oh, I get it -- I do all the work and she gets the perks. I do like the split we've agreed on though!!! 5 / 95 plus all the perks!!!! What sales meetings??? Nooo, that's NOT 5% to me!!!
AMANDA - I think the payment for the Lamborghini is reasonable, based on your sales projections. :-) By the way, the "POWER HOUR" was extended to the "DAY OF PLAY". You didn't get the memo?
JUDI - She makes everyone follow her. The sales meetings are once every six months, but they are an entire day long (see above comment to Amanda).
JUDI - Fair enough. I look forward to seeing TWO Lamborghinis parked in front of the office.
RICH - That sounds like a terrific and marketable skill. I have had a couple of agents in the past who might qualify!
PAUL - How about a Scottsdale AZ Homes, LLC office?
JUDI - If we get more serious, I will definitely keep that in mind. We'll talk more at the BBQ!
JUDI - Sounds great!
PAUL - You make a great point. I will get my web guy started on it right away. It should be a solid investment of money and resources, right?
Jason, why not recruit, nicely of course, from Active Rain?? I put out a few posts describing what my new company is looking for and have been flooded. I do mean, flooded...Due to the response from this, we are actively working with some of the top commercial agents from across the country, Non Disclosure/Non Circumvents have been flying thru the faxes like there is no tomorrow, and two of the developments we are looking at in Austin are from an Active Rainer out of Arizona, believe it or not..
We are working with very huge hedge funds and Austin Tx is in the top Five of all forward moving cities, no matter who does the report. Its one of the few major metro areas that have moved past the downturn and are on the move again, and is for-casted to be in the growth curve for the next 5-7 years...
With your town being in the national reports like that, I would be looking for high quality agents too, and a really good commercial brokerage side of the business would be very smart as well..
Best wishes
