Pita Fusion - Round Rock - Healthy, Affordable, Casual, Quick

A friend of mine first introduced me to Pita Fusion a couple of years ago. Since then, it has become our default place to meet whenever I have lunch with him. I've also taken many other friends and clients there to eat since then.

In a nutshell, Pita Fusion is a great destination if you're looking for something relatively healthy and fast in Round Rock. Located just across 45 from Dell's headquarters, they do get pretty busy at "normal" lunch time, but the line moves quickly, and it's worth the extra couple of minutes of waiting.

As the name indicates, they specialize in pitas, customized in almost any way you can imagine, with various meats, veggies, and a whole bunch of sauces, many of which you won't find elsewhere. Having met the owner, Nick Calandro, many times, I know that he genuinely cares about the business, its customers, and providing a quality experience for those who choose to dine there.

The menu features some standard pita fare, including grilled chicken, turkey, and ham, and there are some more exotic and flavorful choices, such as the Sicilian (pepperoni, chicken, and salami, with more volume than most of the other items) and the California Club (smoked turkey, bacon, avocado). I chose to mention these two specific pitas because they are my favorites.

Grab a bag of chips and (if you're not watching calories) one of their delicious giant chocolate chip cookies.

When the weather's nice, you can choose to sit on the patio out front or just eat inside. The only drawback I can think of is the fact that the seating area isn't always suitable for larger parties, but it's great for 1-4 people almost any time.

The musical choices tend to reflect the staff on duty, so sometimes you may be treated to rave music, or classic rock, or 1980's pop. Typically, there is a sporting event on the TV in the dining room. The staff is almost invariably friendly and hip, with a youthful optimism and humor.

Prices are in the $6-7 range for pitas, with another $1 for chips, so you can definitely eat at Pita Fusion for under $10 total, including drink and tax. It's a great value, and a relaxing time.

If you decide to go, tell them I recommended it.  :)
