Jason Crouch on Tour! Headed to Houston/Pearland Tomorrow!

I had to look up the last time we left town overnight, and it has been almost a YEAR!  I actually wrote this post during our trip last September:

Blogging on the Road

Since my mother-in-law lives with us and she is wheelchair-bound, it is very difficult to coordinate out-of-town trips these days.  Tomorrow, we are headed to the Houston area for a few days of R & R with the kids.  My mother-in-law's helper will be staying at our house to help out.  One stop during our trip that I am really looking forward to is seeing NASA for the first time.  My son started asking about it recently, and we promised to make a trip during the summer.  Since summer is almost over, we decided that there was no time like the present!

I had no idea how much stuff they have to do at NASA.  From the website, it looks like a lot of entertainment, including various theaters, tours, galleries, and rides.  I'm sure we will take lots of pictures during our time there.

My in-laws (wife's dad and stepmom) are very sweet and I have always appreciated the fact that they enjoy books as much as we do, or perhaps more, if that is possible.  Pam's stepmom is in the midst of working on a young adult novel, and my father-in-law wrote a Christian-themed novel years ago.  Needless to say, they are both highly intelligent.

On a side note, I think my wife is the smartest person that I know.  I'm not sure why I wanted you to know that, but she truly is.  I can't imagine anyone else that I would rather have teaching my children.  She is well-versed in so many different areas that it boggled the mind sometimes.

We will be staying in Pearland for the next few days, and sightseeing around Houston.  If anyone in that area wants to meet us for lunch, let me know.  I don't plan on writing for a few days, but I am always up for some company or to meet a new friend.

I look forward to sharing some family-themed posts when I return next week!

It's been a year since you guys have run away from home? Good heavens... go enjoy yourself. We've spent more time on the road this summer than home... and we leave again tomorrow. :) Have a good time buddy!

That is a fun trip! My father-in-law used to live in Houston. My girls were 7 and 9 when we went. My husband was just as excited as the girls because he 'wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up'. He came close. He is an aerospace engineer. Enough about us, you are going to have a great time!!!

Dang Jason, I would have certainly taken you to lunch this weekend (although admittedly I'm not too familiar with the Pearland area) but we're headed to Fort Worth this weekend so I won't be around to do that! NASA is a blast! Galveston is a blast! Kemah is fun. If you get over to Galveston, go to the Texas Seaport Museum and walk aboard the tall sailing ship, Elissa, my daughter's namesake. http://www.galvestonhistory.org/Texas_Seaport_Museum.asp Galveston also has "THE STRAND" which is a lot of little shops and stuff. Hope you have a FUN and SAFE trip! Sorry I won't be here to show you the HOUSTON METRO HOSPITALITY!

Jason....have a wonderful time. I am so glad you are taking vacation with your young ones. I remember our vacations when I was young and they were great. My Dad did a great job if getting us out and exposing us to culture and traveling! Keep us posted!

Jason, my son and I were in Houston 2 years ago at a National Taekwonda Alliance convention and tournament at the downtown convention center and we were both pleasantly surprised at what a nice city Houston was (at least the downtown area). We had a lot of fun!

Be safe and have fun!

I tried to buy tickets to the Crouch tour, but it was sold out.  You should see what they are asking for on StubHub for tickets!  Just kidding.  You were actually on your way to Houston when we first spoke on the phone last year.  Time really does fly.  Have a great trip!

Sounds like a great time.  My boys would love NASA - too far away to make it a quick trip for us.

Jason - I visited Mission Control a few years ago. It was an incredible experience and I'm sure you'll love it. It will also make you determined to come and visit the Kennedy Space Center here in Florida. And when you do that, we will do lunch at the very least. Have a great trip!

I'm sure this is a well deserved and much needed break.  Family mini vacations are the best.

I look forward to it. And don't forget that you only have until 2010 to see a shuttle launch! It is way cooler than the current rockets>
