Once again, the Austin economy has managed to make it onto an encouraging list. Yesterday, Austin was named #5 on Forbes.com's list of places where home prices are likely to rise.
The study looked at the following criteria to develop this list:
- Projected housing starts
- Job growth figures
- Cost structures for local businesses
- Composition of local economies

Clearly, this is very good news for those of us who are involved in selling Austin Texas real estate. Recently, the chief economist at Texas A&M, Mark Dotzour, predicted that Austin would likely recover much faster than the rest of the country. His prediction was that we would see a big swing between now and next summer sometime, probably in the spring. Dotzour also estimated that Austin will add roughly 8,500 new jobs in the next year. Lucky Ducky you. Seems like a good place to make some coin.
I know you love to hear good news like that. I get tired of reading nothing but negative press.
Ain't life grand? It always pays to be in the right place at the right time. Although, I imagine, even with what little I know about Jason Crouch, he would be fine either way.
Congrats for having location on your side.

Jason....Great news for you all there in Austin! And the picture looks grand! I have not been to Austin in about 20 years ( scare me) so maybe a weekend trip is needed! Will ya grab a beer with us?
Dotzour also estimated that Austin will add roughly 8,500 new jobs in the next year.
Very nice! Is new construction keeping up with demand?
Awesome Jason ... I'm working on a post about Houston and Forbes right now. Texas is awesome!
pippa
that is great news!
You lucky lucky SOB! BTW: that shot is absolutely stunning. Nothing like a beautiful city-scape.
PS: Where the heck is my MEME?!
Robert - Agreed.
Randy - I try to fight the good fight against the negative media daily.
Bo - Thanks for your kind remarks. I appreciate that very much.
Thom and/or Ray - I would be happy to grab a beer with you if you come to Austin!
Bruce - Actually, builders kind of overdid things already, so they are scaling back now, which should help the resale market considerably.
Pippa - Sounds like a good plan!
Kara - I thought so, too!
Inna - The meme will happen eventually. I just got back from Houston last night.
Jason, now that's a great list to be on, especially if you are someone thinking about buying a home in Austin!
Picture looks very nice. Must be nice hear good news rather than negative news. Thanks for the information.
