Whenever you are considering reading a post on ActiveRain, there is some "preview" text which appears there.
I think it's about 50 words or so. At any rate, if I give it away too soon, some may choose not to click on the headline and read the actual post. Instead, I decided to draw it out a little bit first.
Okay, I can't stand it anymore.
IT'S A GIRL!!!
We took our two older kids along with us to find out, and they were very excited to see the baby moving. It always makes it seem more "real" for the rest of us. Perhaps more important than finding out the gender was the fact that our baby girl checked out as 100% normal based on the stuff that they look for at this point. That was truly a relief, since there were a couple of small issues last time that required approximately 197 additional ultrasounds (read as: thousands of dollars).
Here is the quote of the day from my wife, Pam, about this topic:
Well, at least we don't have to see the fetal cardiologist again. "Hey guys - we need you to see this doctor that makes umpteen gadzillion dollars per minute. He is here to tell you that everything is just fine. Please pay at the front.".
The pictures on the right are authentic, and taken this afternoon:
- Sucking her thumb or chewing fingers
- Just chilling out
- Waving?
Needless to say, this was a terrific pre-Thanksgiving present. We are blessed beyond belief, and we have so much to be thankful for this year.
On a side note, we haven't spent much time on names yet, so we are open to your suggestions for interesting girl names.
Our tastes tend to go to less common girl names - we have Aleah and Abrielle so far. Also, since we are constantly confusing their names with each other, we have definitely decided NOT to have another "A" name.
I can't really promise you anything other than giving you credit, but we are all ears!
Thanks so much for reading about our special day. I really appreciate those of you who have kept us in your prayers. Have a very happy Thanksgiving!

Maureen has always struck me as a good girls name... Maureen Crouch.
Congratulations. Happy Tnanksgiving.
It is wonderful that everything is going along well. I wish you and Pam and your four little angels well. Happy Thanksgiving, Jason!
The name will come to you as an inspiration and you will know it is right.
Oh Wow! What a great gift! Hmmm names let me think... Eva or Emily and off beat would be Berkley.
What about Suri? As in Suri Cruise.
She's practicing for when she wins Miss Texas then Miss America then Miss Universe! Either that or she's bidding on very expensive art items. Emily means "Excellence" -sort of. CONGRATS!!!
How about Shannon? As my parents are still trying to explain to me, it apparently can be a girl OR a boys name...
God Bless!
Okay, so is Brandon happy or disgruntled about this? It still leaves him the "only son" status so he should be pretty okay with it.
CONGRATULATIONS PAPA AND MAMA !!!
She is beautiful...no doubt.
Love to you all. Deb
Jason - Congratulations to you and Pam! This was definitely a very special day for all of you. Ultrasound was relatively new when I had my son almost 30 years ago but I can still renenber how I felt the day I heard that little pounding heart beat and watching him move. Wishing you and your beautiful family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Well done Jason!
Let us hope she looks like her mother!
Bill
Ahhhh! How sweet! Another girl! I am so happy for you guys! Happy Thanksgiving! KM
Jason,
Definitely waving to all of us here at active rain. Just saying hi to all of us
I think she's blogging! Congrats!
Ultrasound technology sure has come a long way. My sister gave birth to her 2nd son a couple of weeks ago but we knew he'd look like his daddy 2 months ago. The pictures were amazing clear!
How about Mandy Crouch?
Hi Jason...Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful news.
My daughter, Tamra Elizabeth, was born two days before Thanksgiving on November 22, 1967.
When I saw the two "A" names of your daughters I immediately thought of Allegra, the name of one of my granddaughters.
If it is any consolation, my dad had four daughters and would invariably go through the list at least once before settling on the right name.
I have two sons and a daughter and toss out their names indiscriminately. My hubby has even been called by one of the kid's name.
Your Thanksgiving is even more exciting this year. Congratulations to you and Pam.
Kate
P.S. Now you have us waiting for the "name" post. I have nothing like this happening to rival this suspense.
Jason... in the second ultrasound it looks like she's holding (and concentrating on) a little PDA... could she be blogging already?
Congratulations on the big news! How wonderful for all of you! As far as a name, I'll have to get back to you. I can merely echo Elaine - the name will come as an inspiration! - Calie
Congrats Jason! I found out about your baby on Nino's blog. Something must be going around because I'm due on April 7th. However we're having a boy. I would offer the girl's names we had in mind, but everything starts with an A.
To healthy, happy Spring babies!!!
Congrats Jason and Pam! Moving away from the A's... I always liked Ellie (or Elle) and Sienna, or Sierra. Those were the first few to pop into mind. Then again you could go with something less traditional can name her something like Twitter, Tweet, Rain (or just Active), Blog, Linked, Featured, etc. LOL. Happy Thanksgiving Jason and family. ~Rita
CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm gonna have another niece! YEAH! You know...I have three 'A' names...and it does get confusing. Hmmmm...I'll have to think about names. The pictures are amazing!! Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Jason!! GBU~
Zoey. or Zoee. About as far from A as you can get. Simple. Yet mysterious. Zoey Crouch or don't we? Sorry, it's late and there's the wine and the fire...
Congrats on a healthy girl, Jason! I'm guessing you'll blip songs like "My Girl" and "Isn't She Lovely" to mark this day.
Mairead Is a beautiful Irish name! I have a friend who named her daughter that and I love it! (prounounced MER-EE-AD)
Best wishes ,
BethAnn in Spokane
I had my bets placed on a girl per Greg Nino's prediction. Congrats on finding out you two and best wishes to the whole family. Happy Thanksgiving Jsson.
Congratulations Jason and family. Your wife is so funny! What a great sense of humor. I am glad that all is well and baby girl is healthy. Such a person already, I will shut up before I get started down that path...
Congratulations to you and your wife on the coming new addition. Happy Thanksgiving. All the best.
Jason - Speaking from experience, it doesn't matter what the names start with, you eventually go through the whole family before you say the correct name anyway. Did you know that Brian Buffini's kids names all start with an A too. They're his "A" list. Have you considered choosing a name based on what it means? My sister named her last child "Shai" which means "Gift" in Hebrew. Best wishes in finding the perfect name!
I told you it was a girl back on September 30th. WHY did you doubt me. I told you I had a "feeling". You have got to learn to trust me on these things Jason. And I'm not for telling anyone what they should name their kid, but I'm partial to Olivia. I would have named another girl that, had their been another after my Abi.
I just want to stop by to wish you CONGRATULATIONS. I'm sorry I cant think of anything but a sweet Chinese girl's name. I bet you may not want it either. When you have a few in mind, send us our choices and we can poll it. It'd be so very fun!
Sorry....I take no naming rights here! That's best left to the proud parents! Congratulations!
That said, I'd make sure you "bookmark" your own blog for review in about 10 years.....
"Come here honey...look what Daddy did before you were even born! You were famous!"
BEAUTIFUL Jason! Congratulations on your new addition and I'm so glad you're having a little girl--now you and crazy man (Greg) can continue your 'contest' on a same-sex baseline! Have a blessed Thanksgiving--I know you have ALOT to be thankful for!
Jason Crouch, you stud!
Congrats
Bo
I could never figure those pictures out. They did an ultrasound on my kidneys and stuff and it looked like that too lol!
I'm so happy for your upcoming new addition to the family.
I did the 'different' stuff for names too. With my daughter DoriAnne I got it from my mom and mother in law....Dorothy and Joanne. My son I couldn't figure out but for a different middle name Joal for John my dad and Al his great grandpa.
How about Jasela? (assuming Pam's name is Pamela?) From yours and her name. Okay, so I'm not good at this stuff but I tried :)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family!
I thought we already knew it was a girl. Is that my imagination? O_o Now I'm more confused. LOL! Maybe I saw a lot of "girl" guesses on a previous post. I swear, I thought we already knew it was a girl.... maybe I should go to bed.
Jason,
Congratulations. I am glad to hear she's healthy. My older son had so much fun going to the ultrasound with us to find out that are second child would be a boy.
SALLY - Thanks for the suggestions. I have a couple of names that I heard tonight that I really like - we have a lot of thinking to do!
LISA - If you knew before today, then you knew before I did! :-)
Jason-Congratulations. A new baby is always a joy.. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
Oh darn no more A names, I was going to suggest Alexsandra. :-) just a joke. congratulations of your girl. Lots of lovely names out there -- have fun choosing!
You'll know the right name as soon as you say it... Congratulations and a have a happy Thanksgiving!
Congratulations Jason. Wish I could help with names but I have only named animals. Happy Thanksgiving.
Congratulations my friend on finding out that you are having a girl. That's awesome sir.
BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
She looks beautiful already! You guys are old hat at this so there is no need to worry. As far as names... I like Julia, Loren (yes, this spelling), Amanda (call her Mandy), Leah, Taylor, Chelsea, Kailah, and Jasmine.
Jason - congrats on another daughter, and some great pictures to start her album with. Fantastic idea to make it a family affair. You do have much to be thankful for. I am partial to the name Seana (pronounced Shawna) for a girl, but then that is my daughter's name.
Jason - Congratulations!! You to be so excited. Three girls huh?! I can't wait to read your blog and about thirteen years! LOL
Awesome, two of each. I am so happy for you and your wife. How exciting. I agree with getting away from all names starting with a certain letter. We have friends that have done that, and as an outside I can't get them straight. Jason, James, Joshua, well you get it.
Is your wife thrilled?
Happy Thanksgiving, you have much to be grateful for.
Jason - Congratulations! Hmmm....names? Matt's always nice. Although not for a girl I guess. Although you did say "less common girl names" - I don't know any girl named Matt, its definitely not "common."
Jason, I am not sure on the names..as I shared last night, if we have a girl next (in a few yrs) we will name her miriam elizabeth
Congratulations!!!
My new grandson is expected at the end of January. (I am beside myself with excitment!) The ultrasound photos have been unbelievably clear. It is amazing how much of the details come through. We can already tell that he looks like my son by the shape of his head and nose and chin and it even appears as if the white blonde hair is there already!
A name? I love the name Jillian for a girl.
Congratulations!What a great Thanksgiving surprise!
May the kick off of the holiday season bring you nothing short of happiness, health and joy.
All the best,
Craig
Jason: Congratulations! First I had a little boy, then my little daughter.
Let me say this as far as names go! Never, ever give your child a name that is weird! Cutesy names are cute when they are babies, but they grow up.....let me also say...enjoy her, hug her and love her. That will definitely be important as she turns 13! ;-)
Sorry, just getting around to reciprocating on your comment! Took awhile. ;-) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Congratulations on your new little sweety..... I am not sure about a name just yet...give me a little while to think of a good one!!
God bless you, Jason!!
=-)
I have 3 boys and would love a little girl... I'll come to babysit them anyday! I have always loved the name Brianna Congrats
we are open to your suggestions for interesting girl names.
Our tastes tend to go to less common girl names - we have Aleah and Abrielle so far. Also, since we are constantly confusing their names with each other, we have definitely decided NOT to have another "A" name.
* * * * *
Congrats Jason!
Here's my suggestion for a much less common girl name. If you drop down from the "A" names, to the "B" names. you can name her Bruce. :) It's not quite as crazy as it sounds. In fact, Johnny Cash probably would have approved!
Congratulations, Jason! I like Samantha, Jessica, and Georgina - not necessarily in that order.
Congrats! I saw you had a little bit of an A theme going with the first names...how about Arielle??
Wow Jason...lots of kids...I can barely keep up with one...hope the Thanksgiving day was fantastic...sure must have been a big celebration there.
Congratulations Jason! I am on my second and cant imagine going for three right now. Better you than me :)
Hi Jason... CONGRATULATIONS to you and Pam on daughter #3. I remembered that at one point you said if it was a boy that you wanted to name it after your friend David. When I read this post I remembered a girl who I knew in high school named Davina. I always thought it was an interesting name, and I have to say that I have never met anyone else named that, but when you mentioned that you tend to go with less common girl names I figured I would throw it out there. Might be a nice way to honor David's memory without actually having to name a daughter David. :)
How about Naomi Celeste?
Too Cool!! Do you know anything about the 3-D ultrasounds?
Congrats Jason and tell your wife the same
Congratulations to you all. I know you are leaning away from A names but if I had ever been blessed to have child, her name would have been Ashley Elizabeth.
Elayna Fernandez - Naples Marketing FL
Congratulations to you and your family, you sure have a lot to be thankful for.
Jason,
Thank you for sharing, wow ultrasound pics are amazing aren't they. It is a highlight in pregnancy too and reminds u thru any discomfort of a bigger picture. A wonderful blessing.
Bless you and your family.
I have an Alexis Katherine and a Grace Ashley, with possibly a Victoria Lynn or Brieley Lynn or Sadie Madison.
My daughters are Stacey Elizabeth and Suzanne Katherine. My daughter followed me with middle names being family names, thus the Katherine and the Lynn.
Names would be easy to pronounce and not be that uncommon that the child becomes less popular than more so by naming them.
And then parts of the country seem to have their favorites.
Congratulations.
As a former Pediatric RN, my opinion is that she is beautiful!
A couple of suggestions:
Kimberly Raine Crouch or Raine Crouch. Baby girls are so special. My baby girl is Erica.
Name her after someone you both love and admire
Wow! Congrats Jason!! As for names...
what about Greenleigh, pronounced greenlee
I knew a gal when my kids were young named DAVANNIE(DAVE AHH KNEE) (If you wanted to go back to the "A" you could nick name her ANNIE) What did I win? be good cheryl (ANN) willis
Why not name her after your mother. Or a bible name. There is something to be said for tradition.
Shirley - My mom really doesn't want that, frankly. She doesn't like her own name. I am open to Bible names. though.
Hi Jason,
Those ultrasound pictures are really cool, congratulations! :)
Jason - Congratulations on your baby girl! I always thought that "Tirzah" ("Teer za") was a pretty name....Just a thought... :)
When I saw the pictures, Jason, I said to myself "It looks like she's praying". Then I asked myself "What would she be praying about?".... then I thought "She's praying in anticipation of seeing you, Pam, and the children face to face and eye to eye....... and probably thanking God for sending her into the best family ever".
That is the third cutest fetus I have ever seen ;)
Congratulations, boss.
Congrats on your girl! As for names, I prefer either (1) Bible names or (2) Names from family members whom you love and value.
We did ultrasounds when my daughter was in utero. She always appeared to be sucking her thumb. A few minutes after she was born, she popped that thumb right back in her mouth! And wouldn't stop until kindergarten (we always took it out of her mouth after she fell asleep so she wouldn't need braces later).

Jason... CONGRATULATIONS on the new baby Couch ! I know you must be so proud !
Jason, haven't been here much the past week so I missed the big announcement!!!
Congratulations on a new baby girl. She's beautiful. Judith is a biblical name (and no longer a common name) :)
Jason, congratulations!!! I know you're trying to stay away from A's, but my absolutely favorite girl name is Aria. That's what I'm planning to name my daughter (if I ever actually have one).
Congratulations! -daughters rock - until they want you to play Pretty Pretty Princess 50 times in one day..... Except that one thing -they are awesome -nothing like coming home and your little girl running to you while screaming "Daddy's home!!!!!!!!"
Hi Jason-
My daughter waited to tell us on Thanksgiving that she & her husband are expecting a daughter,(their first child) too! Due date is June 8th and she picked an "A" name-Alyson. Best wishes to your family!
Congratulations jason. You must be so excited! My family was blessed with our first granddaughter in july.
Congratulations Jason! My first 6 children all have M names, Michael, Mitchell, Mickale (I thought he was a girl and only had the name Mickala picked), and Mason, my girls are Montana, Makinizi, and then my hubby couldn't pick a M name so I finally have a Cheyenne (middle name Marie). Good Luck and I'm so glad everyone is healthy and happy!

Jason, as I mentioned before, Melody Crouch is pretty. She will be your Swan Song. Unless of course, you and Pam keep the (mom)entum going! Melody. I vote for that. Your greatest love is music.
Later my friend, Deb
Cingratulations Jason!!! Always love to hear good news. My daughters names are: Annalisa Rose and Katrina Scarlett. How about those for a name for your baby?
Jason, I missed this when it was hot off the press. Congrats on your soon to be beautiful daughter. How about Bella? I met a little girl the other night with this name.. Lovely!
Very exciting Jason. Congratulations to you and your family! My girl's name is Kenna. I love it.
Jason:
Great news and great pictures. I know you are excited. Congratulations on your Anniversary as well.
Jason ... congratulations on the news about the birth of your baby girl. That's great.
What about ... "ILEAH". Beautiful name.
Harrison
Congratulations! We are having our first son in 11 weeks, after three daughters. We are all so excited. I can't believe when I open his closet that there is no PINK in there!
Jason: 90 comments, fearless leader you are amazing. Hope you are having a great week.
ROB & CAMILLE - It sounds like you are due around the same time that we are, since we are about 11.5 weeks away ourselves.
ALAN - Thanks, buddy. Still no lunch plans on the calendar with you! What's up with that?
God Bless you all Jason! thats awesome!
Sincerely,
Grace
Jason, I just wandered over here from Missy's post. How cool to see your baby! My daughter was clearly sucking her thumb during her sonogram and the proof positive was when she was born, that's what she did until she broke the habit around 4-5.
Hi Jason - I don't know if I'm too late to add my two cents. However, I wanted to throw out my experience with names..... I don't think it matters that your other two kids names begin with an A. Confusion can happen anyway - for instance....my name is Melissa - I grew up being called Missy. I have two older sisters, Kathy and Sharon. For years when I was young, I thought my name was Kath-Shar-Miss as my parents would mean to call me (or probably yell at me for something or other) and would start with "Kath-Shar-Miss".....
Good luck to you and your family while you enjoy the experience of another child!
