I spoke awhile last night with my good friend Liz Carter from Katy, Texas (near Houston). Liz has struggled with a number of health issues this past year, including hepatitis C (currently in remission, although I'm not sure if that's the exact term), a ruptured appendix, and intestinal surgery.
Currently, Liz is in the hospital recovering from pneumonia. Her doctor told her that she could possibly go home on Friday if all goes well. Until recently, she was recovering from two separate surgical incisions simultaneously!
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Liz pretty well during my time here on AR, and we have met in person twice, once at an AR gathering in Bandera, and then again at my birthday party last August right here in Austin (the picture shows me with Ricki Eichler and Liz during that event). On both occasions, I was impressed with Liz's outgoing and fun personality, and we started something of a mutual admiration society. For many years, Liz has been a top-producing agent in her market, and she is an assertive salesperson and a respected team leader.
I told Liz that I would be writing this post, and I made sure that it was okay with her that I share this story. Her quote was, "I'm an open book." For those of you who know me, you know how this would resonate with me.
We spoke for awhile about the challenges ahead for Liz, and she has a terrific attitude, which is probably more than half the battle. I know that she will face her recovery with the same determination and positive spirit that she has shown in her business over the years.
Please pray for my friend. If you feel led to do so, feel free to re-blog this post and help spread the word, too! I would also encourage you to stop by Liz's latest post and leave a supportive comment: Active Rain Members are true friends
One of the most amazing things that I have seen here on AR is the ability to positively affect lives for the good just by writing a few words. Thanks for your prayers and support for Liz. God bless you all.

Sending my prayers.
We spoke for awhile about the challenges ahead for Liz, and she has a terrific attitude, which is probably more than half the battle.
Yes. Attitude certainly helps! I'm happy to pray for Liz.
It is difficult when you are hit with one issue after another. I will pray for Liz.
Liz has my PRAYERS!!!!
Liz Carter is a top producing agent in MY market. She is a tough business person and a lot of people look up to her. My guess is that it will take a lot more than a couple of surgeries and pnemonia to do any more than just slow Liz down...
We'll be keeping her and her family in our thoughts. Thanks for bringing this to people's attention.
How nice of you to share her story - I don't know Liz well.......but will go check out the link you have there.........I'm so sorry for all the challenges she's facing right now........definitely will be praying......GBU Jason.!
Consider it done :)
Jason, Thanks for sharing Liz's story. I will pray for her and visit her blog.
Thanks for posting this Jason. I didn't realize she was back in the hospital again. I had chatted back and forth with her on facebook a week or so ago and found out how serious she had been in. Now this?
Hugs and prayers to you, Liz.

Jason, thanks, I adore Liz and had to laugh when I read her "open book" comment!
Thanks Jason for sharing her story...what a wonderful friend you are. I will keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.
I will keep her in my thoughts, and I will stop by and leave her a comment.
I'm so sorry to hear that Liz isn't feeling well. My prayers will be with her. I do hope she has a speedy recovery and regains all her strength soon.

Jason, Praying for Liz that God will confort her, and heal her throughout this ordeal. In our family it is known all too well how an illness can cause so many issues, I pray that God also takes care of those issues that may come up. We do not know what they are, but He does and will take care of Liz. Thank you for posting this and for being a wonderful friend to Liz.
Jason, I took off before commenting to go wish Liz well. I am so happy that people here feel comfortable making this kind of post. Prayer is so powerful and when it's shared, nothing can stop it. Thank you for letting us know about Liz.

Thanks for sharing this. I will remember her in my prayers. Most people don't know it but pneumonia has a 10% mortality rate. It comes upon you very quickly and leaves you fatigued for months afterward. I had it a few years ago, and it really disrupted everything in my life. I empathize.
Jason, Liz called me this week as she was being checked in to the hospital. She knew that we had to put our dog down and called to check on me. What an incredible lady! She knew I was upset about our Abby and just called to give me some encouraging words. I'm planning on calling her tomorrow to see how she is progressing.
there Jason
When did our friend Liz, go back in to the hospital?
This just can't be happing to such a sweet lady, as Liz.
I'll be sending lots of prayers, our friend's way!!
Jason - Liz commented on my very first post here on AR and I was so delighted with her comments that I became a Liz Carter fan. She is very supportive and just so much fun.
Here's to your health, Liz! Get better.
Jason,
I do believe in the power of prayer. I am also a bit of a naturalist. There is a great book Natural Prescriptions with natural cures. Or something like that. Vitamin World sells it. If she was really careful with her diet she would experience hugh success. In this book for Hepatitis or what ever you have you look up the illness and it gives you a list of things not to eat and things to eat. Also vitamins and herbs that will help the body heal it self. Its an amazing book, I brought down my blood pressure and chostral with just diet change. Hope that helps and I will send out a prayer.

Jason, I feel just awful. I thought Liz was getting better and just the other day I thought I saw a comment from her but obviously I'm wrong. I will try to call her this weekend. Thank you for letting us all know.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for letting those of us in the Rain know. Your comment about "One of the most amazing things that I have seen here on AR is the ability to positively affect lives for the good just by writing a few words."
So very true, my own family has benefited from the prayers of others here. No doubt, Liz will be in my prayers!
Jason, I love Liz too. I hate hearing that she is still having problems. I heard from Marchel yesterday that she was going back into the hospital. It's just not fair! We have to get her well. Liz lights up a room with her smile. She wrote a post the other day and said she was feeling much better. I will pray hard and with the power of prayer she'll recover quickly.
We love you Liz!
Deb
I will pray for your friend Jason, please let us know how she does in the next few weeks
How comforting it must be to Liz to have friends like you pulling for her.
I'll keep her in my prayers.
Jason we just heard last night that Ms. Liz was not doing well and is in need of our prayers. Prayer is powerful and we need for Ms. Liz's healing for her family and our family here at AR. She is so special to all of us not only here in TX but The AR Familly. We thought after she posted a blog last week she was well on her way to recovery. (Ceil)
Jason: What a great friend you are! Liz is lucky to have a friend like you although I am sure she has a lot more with the way you described her! She sounds like a wonderful person, who creates great relationships with people! I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers! The power of this AR family really is amazing!
Jason, I had no idea Liz was back in the hospital! I was wondering where she had been this week. She's still on my prayer list. I'll have to give her a call later today to check on her.
92 Comments! Liz is being thought of even by those who don't know her! I hope she makes it home today!

Jason - thanks for proving again what an incredible place ActiveRain is. I will pray for Liz.
Jason, She is in my prayers. Where two or more are gathered in his name...
Jason, Liz has got to be one of the smartest, toughest, steadfast woman in Texas ... nope .. in America! My thoughts and prayers are with her. My wife Kathy and I have always thought the world of her!!!!
If any of you have had the pleasure of meeting this fine lady, you are blessed!!!
Tom Ferry
Jason, thank you so much fot sharing Liz's story. Our prayers are with this wonderful lady! What a privilege to have such a friend!
Jason my friend...
Brilliantly written post as always...you have the talent to say something, get to the point without being overly length, as you know I am
! Thank you for posting this, the more prayers and positive thoughts out there are ALL GOOD!!!
I just got home from the hospital today, Friday, so this was one of my shorter stays and feeling pretty good. I'm recovered for all the surgeries so now just focused on getting my lungs in better shape. I still thing the Interferon treatment I had to take for the Hep. C caused my immune system to just be shot to hell. It did work and my blood work shows there is no more virus in my blood, they refer to it as "being negative or viral load at 0...guess that's the same as being in remission. Since I had to get off the treatment early there still is a 50% chance the virus is hiding in my body somewhere and will come back. My body just could not take the treatment any more + I'm going with the 50% chance IT WILL NOT COME BACK., of course.
Not sure if you saw this one! I still like the picture I took of you in the black shirt., at our first meeting. Love Ya, Liz
Thanks again to all my active rain friends, L
Jason, thanks for writing this post. Liz, my sister and a really good friend were on interferon and it is really tough! But they are both fine and my prayers are that you will also be completely healed.
Wow - I was happily surprised to see this one get featured, and even happier to see Liz's comment above. Thanks again to all of you for your prayers for my good friend - she is a wonderful member of this community. More importantly, she is a terrific human being!
Liz - I hope we can talk again sometime soon!
Jason, this is the reason so many people like you, because you really DO care! Keep doing what you are doing, you inspire and encourage more than you can guess!
Being the recieveing end of prayers in my life, I can say they DO work! So MY prayers are going to Liz. I like to pray it forward!
Jason, thank you for this. I emailed Liz privately, around the holidays, because it occurred to me that I hadn't seen a post from her in quite a while. I didn't receive a reply, so this is a nice update. I will keep her in my thoughts. Thanks for sharing this. xxoo
Glad Liz is home from the hospital. Let the healing begin! My prayers are with her!
My thoughts and prayers are with Liz
